Our tanning bed broke a few weeks ago. Cena made some phone calls and was told the timer needed to be replaced. She ordered one and we received it on Monday. We had the tanning bed opened up and ready for the part (naturally we had to nearly gut the thing to get to the faulty timer). This evening we put the new timer in and cleaned the bed. It is amazing how much dust and hair ends up in that thing.

I used the tanning bed for the first time in a long time. I think I have only hopped in it a few times since November. That should change.

Most of us the use the more traditional way of getting tan by being out in the sun for hours, and using lots of suntan lotion. There might come a time when you want a tan but just don’t have the time during the day so you decide to sign up at a tanning salon.

At the tanning salon you’ll be faced with a choice to make. Do you want to use a tanning booth? Or a tanning bed?

Well, here’s some information that will help you decide.

11/13: Everyone who owns a doxie knows they are synonomous for having back problems. I can say that my sweet girl is now a member of that club. One we all dread.
Somehow Mocha injured her back and had to be taken up to the emergency vet this morning. Don’t know how it happened (we have no stairs and she is not jumper) I left for 10 minutes and came back to her being in a lot of pain. I still don’t know how serious it is. Waiting on the vet with fingers crossed.

7:00PM Thursday UPDATE: Mocha is home this evening. Pain meds are working so she is finally sleeping. Man she cried and wimpered all the way home and 2 hrs after. Breaks my heart. They found a lower back disc that was injured(a narrowing) So she has to be in a cage/bed rest for 2 weeks. I will do anything for my baby girl, but this will be a challenge with an overactive doxie (I could use anyone’s advice?). The Dr. said if she is on bed rest for 2 weeks that she will have a 99% recovery. But will have sensitivity in that part of her back for the rest of her life, so we have to be careful. She’s only 1 1/2 years ( this is good since she will heal better). I have tried to alter the world around – jumping, diet, weight, excercise, but her downfall is that she is a dachshund, a breed that is born with a malfunctuning back and future problems.

Um, me, that’s who. After a fortnight of sun, sand and sea on Rhodes, I’m back in Blighty. I will update the missing 15 photos from my 365, they’re taken, but I have to extract them from the 720+ shots I took over the fortnight, so I’ll maybe try to do one or two per night.

I can back a (no) leaner, (less) meaner (still no kind of) fighting machine. A spot of tan and much relaxation has done me the world of good (compare this shot with day 120), but no doubt that will all be shattered by my immediate return to work.

Note to self: I see you’ve ignored your own advice from day 120… tsk.

11/15 Mocha is doing much better today. She wants to do the regular routine things she is used to, but of course she can’t. It’s good to see that she ‘wants’ to, but I have to say ‘no’ and it’s hard. It’s also not easy to stop a 14lb dachshund physically sometimes when they have the willpower to do what they want. I will have some strong arm muscles by two weeks. Mocha has been kept safe. And entertained. I carried her for a walk in the yard to visit her squirrel friends, and we joined Pepper and Levi and family to go get our regular Saturday morning Peet’s coffee. Again, Pepper is here now sleeping next to Mocha, who is chewing on her toy bone. Pepper is so sweet and is very concerned about Mocha – so wonderful to see!

11/22/08: Mocha is doing wonderful. I have weened her off some meds and still no back problems. Fingers crossed it’s only another week and we will finally be able to see how she is doing completely off 2 of her meds.

11/22 am She sleeps in bed with me and has never jumped off the bed until this morning. Usually she licks me and wakes me up so I can lift her down. I woke up without her there. When I came in the small room I asked her "What are you doing?" Half asleep. And she decided to some twirls and some playful bows with wiggly feet and running around her little space. She was so good she only stayed in her space when she left me. She wasn’t hanging out anywhere but where she knows she is supposed to be. So she was ok. I pray her back didn’t get hurt.
